He came from very obscure circumstances. His father was a fisherman who expected all of his sons to follow in his footsteps. In growing up, Joe did not like the smell of dead fish that surrounded him as he scrubbed out the boats. He discovered baseball and his world changed. Joe became famous as a member of the San Francisco Seals. When he got to the New York Yankees, he batted in front of Lou Gehrig. He became an All-Star and they won the World Series 9 times during his career. He married the most famous woman on the planet, Marilyn Monroe. He was the epitome of class as he dealt with the world.
