The month of August reminds us that summer still has a ways to go. Many events have taken place during the month of August that dramatically have impacted American and world history. Some of those events include: 1492 – Columbus set sail to find the new world. 2 Atomic bombs were dropped in 1945 that ended World War II. The resignation of an American President took place in 1974. In 1969, the greatest collection ever of musical talent gathered at a farm in upstate New York and it was called Woodstock. The Capital Building and the Presidential Mansion was burned to the ground in 1814. The Guinness Book of World Records became a reality for the first time in 1955. Come and hear about these and many other stories that enrich our lives and they all took place during the very interesting month of August.
