As we look at the events of history that took place during the month of March, it is amazing to know of the prominent events and the not so prominent events that have greatly impacted our lives. The prominent events that stand out include: the Zimmerman Telegram that got America into World War I, the 2nd Lincoln Inaugural Address that is still one of the best ever (and John Wilkes Booth was in attendance), Yellowstone became our 1st national park, the Boston Massacre took place anti-British feelings, FDR’s first Fireside Chat that began to calm a nation many others. Some of the not quite so prominent events include: the founding of the Peace Corps, Patrick Henry’s speech, the Exxon Valdez spill, the closing of Alcatraz, the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory Fire, the first Barnum & Bailey Circus performance, and many others.
